"The Mystery"
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“A
paintbrush fell from the sky” the day Tres Taylor met R.A. Miller. In
1998 Miller was making history in Georgia as a well respected folk
artist and Taylor was a career bio-chemist.
Today
Tres Taylor is a well respected artist on the path that was set the day
he met R.A. Miller. Mr. Miller passed away in March 2006. His
legacy lives on in the work of the new generation of artists influenced
by his art. Much has been said in recent reviews about the influence of
“Outsider Art” on the mainstream. Some mainstream artists readily
acknowledge the references to primitive and intuitive art, some do not.
Tres Taylor owes his artistic life to a self taught visionary and his
work carries on the tradition of doing what feels right with what you
have at hand.
Some of the imagery in Taylor's work seems to suggest the work of
Marc Chagall and Modigliani, and in Japan the reviews of his work noted
the references to the great printmaker Munakata. More than the sum
of his influences, Taylor's work reveals his genuine spiritual search for the
truth in beauty.
